The Summit County Library provides a variety of services, including information both current and historical on many subjects. Books, magazines, newspapers, books on tape and CD, videos, DVD's, and CD-ROMs make up the collection.
Searching for information or materials may be accomplished on the on-line catalog and several databases. Interlibrary loan is available for materials not carried by the Summit County Library system.
All three libraries provide free Internet access. AV equipment may be rented at the Main Library in Frisco.
The Main Library and the North Branch Library in Silverthorne have meeting rooms available for public or private non-profit organizations at no charge. To reserve a room, please contact the County Manager’s Office at 970-453-3456 between the hours of 8:00 am and 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday. Meeting Room Policies for the County Commons. On-going programs and services are offered for children, teens, and adults.
The Summit County Library Outreach Services program, “From Our Library to You: Books and More at Your Door,” provides free home delivery and pick-up of library materials to patrons of all ages who are unable to come to the library due to extended illness or disability. An application for service is available online or at your library.
Audio Visual Equipment
The audio visual equipment available for loan at the Main Library in Frisco includes:
- Carousel slide projector
- Overhead projector
- Opaque projector Screen
- 16 mm projector
- 3 projector screens
AV equipment may be reserved in advance for use by any Summit County Library card-holder in good standing. A refundable $20 cash deposit for each piece of equipment is required for loan.
Borrowed equipment must be returned promptly and in the same condition in which it was borrowed.
The maximum lending period is one week, and $1.00 per 24 hour period or less is assessed for use of the equipment.
All three libraries have a VCR and/or DVD player and monitor available for use in the building. A microfilm/fiche reader/printer is available for use at the Main Library, as well as a video magnifier designed for use by people who have visual impairments which make it difficult or impossible for them to read ordinary printed materials.
