The Friends of the Library meet the second Wednesday of each month (except book sale months) See calendar for time and location. We discuss fundraising events, programs and various opportunities to support our library. The Friends hold large book sales 3 times a year, as well as ongoing book sales with all funds going to the Friends of the Library.

The Friends is a nonprofit all-volunteer group originally organized in Summit County in 1960 and incorporated in 1977. The status of 501(c)3 was obtained in October 1978.

Mission Statement

Through advocacy, funding, and volunteer support, Friends assists the Summit County Library in fulfilling its mission.

The Friends sponsor programs throughout the year, including special children's events, visiting authors, contests, a book club tea and a travel series in the winter. The Friends also fund 1000 Books Before Kindergarten,Summer Reading performers and literacy kits at all library locations. Check our Upcoming Events for details on any of these programs.

Book Sales

The following locations have used book sales:

  • Main Library (37 Peak One Dr., Frisco)
  • South Branch Library (103 S. Harris St., Breckenridge)
  • North Branch Library (651 Center Circle Silverthorne, CO)
  • Red Buffalo Coffee at the Silverthorne Town Center

Annual Book Sale Events

The Friends of the Library holds three book sale events each year. The 2024 book sales will take place at the Community and Senior Center on April 5-6, August 16-17 and Dec 6-7.  The December sale includes a fabulous bake sale. Check the website calendar for location, dates and times.

All book sales raise funds to support the many programs and projects the Friends of the Library sponsors on behalf of the community and the Summit County Library.

*Teachers can show their teacher ID to receive free books from the Friends book sales.

Please do not bring old textbooks, old reference books, or Reader's Digest Condensed Books. After removing the covers, these may be recycled with paper. Learn more on our material donations page.
